Hello everyone, Benjamin is asking for help for his niece, Kristin "Gug". Kristin is one of the greatest people her family knows, and for around 10 years she has worked as a community social worker, doing everything she can to help family, friends, and even strangers. She even foster's cats and dogs. She is the kind of person who always shows up when someone is in need. Now Kristin is facing a crisis of her own.

She purchased her home in Beechview five years ago, and since her move in date, she has made that house, her home for her family and pets and even foster animals. She recently discovered an area of concern, which resulted in her finding a catastrophic fault in her homes foundation and brick damage that appears to have been there long before she purchased the house. About a month ago, she noticed a large gap near the dining room window. When Benjamin looked at it, he saw a two-inch bow in the brick and knew she needed professional advice right away. The previous owner had two companies do work on the basement. She contacted both of those companies, and they directed her to a Structural Engineer. A structural engineer later found that about a third of Kristin’s foundation is much thinner than it should be, and the entire side of the house is at risk of collapsing.

She has already invested a significant amount of time and money discovering the full extent of the issue; and this wall is not going to make it through the upcoming 2026 winter.

Which means she, needs to take immediate action.

Like most of us, she does not have funds available to handle a catastrophic need. Her home owners insurance is not providing any assistance, as there was not an 'event', that damaged the house.

The foundation alone is estimated to cost between $25- $35,000, and the full scope of the situation will not be known until the work is started. This project will require permits, inspections, labor, and clean up costs.

This is also a safety hazard for Kristin, her family and her pets, living in the home, as well as the neighboring home which is close to hers.

Kristin is a very independent young woman and has dedicated her career to helping the undeserved in the greater Pittsburgh area.

She has tried her very best to find solutions to save her home!

She still owes over $100,000 on this home!

Over the last month, she has reached out to many organizations in Pittsburgh that help with matters like this. Unfortunately all of their funds are spoken for, for the year of 2026 and it is unknown when funds will become available.

She reached out to her States Representative, councilman, and Senator and they all gave her the same resources she had already exhausted.

Kristin is hoping with some initial help from this Go Fund Me that she can begin repairs while obtaining loans and other sources of help to bring the project to completion.

The repairs are expected to cost between $40,000 and $60,000, and the funds raised will go directly toward urgent structural repairs to stabilize her home and help prevent damage to her neighbor’s property as well. Kristin has already looked into nonprofit assistance, but there are no funds available. After spending so much of her life helping others find the support they need, she now needs support herself.
