Help Kris and Nat with Childcare

Natalie’s battle with cancer started way back in October 2017. What started out as uncomfortable bloating and tiredness, followed by a barrage of tests, was eventually diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Natalie and Kris’ youngest was 7.5 months old at the time. Two major surgeries were then followed by course of chemotherapy; essentially 18 weeks of poison, recovery, repeat, in 3 weekly cycles.
Early March 2018, Natalie and Kris were given the news that there was “no evidence of the disease”.
By June 2018, Natalie had chest pain and another barrage of tests followed. The cancer had aggressively returned, blood clots were scattered across her lungs, and pleural effusion was markedly reducing her lung capacity. She was upstaged to stage 4. 750ml of fluid was drained from her left lung to allow breathing to stabilise. A second course of chemo then commenced late June.
Early September 2018, after three rounds of chemotherapy, Natalie and Kris were advised that chemotherapy is no longer effective, so all treatment has been stopped. The oncologists are looking at an immunotherapy clinical trial which has a 50% dropout rate, ie; patients cannot continue treatment due to side effects. By the end of September we will understand if Natalie is eligible to enter this trial.
Over the last 11 months they’ve had family and friends stay to assist with their day-to-day’s; this included a 50hr/week nanny service that was also fully subsidised by the government until 2nd July this year. This subsidy has markedly reduced, with rebate still uncertain. We’ve set up this go fund me page for friends of Kris and Nat to contribute what they can – it’s a very real way that we can help them.
