Hi my name is Kenneth, I have a handicapped child and his name is KO. He has hydrocephalus and he also has a VP shunt to control his fluids in his brain. This all stemmed from a tumor he had in his brain at 6 months old. Also he is on the autism spectrum. It has been rough to deal with most of his life. But ,3 years ago my wife and I decided it was best if we was no longer. We divorced, this caused anxiety and stress on Ko. I have Ko all the time because that is his choice and he is 15 now and can make decisions like that for himself.Recently my older son ,who had been helping me care for Ko for the last 3 years , well he turned 18 and has moved out.I lost my job because of attendance issues.I can't leave Ko unsupervised so it is a issue with no help.
My son KO is my world, everything I do ,I do for him. Caring for him is a full-time responsibility, my responsibility.Im trying to raise enough funds to help me with rent and everyday essential until I can get another way to support us.i have filed for his disability and been denied. The appeal is in process currently. My rent is the main financial burden we need help with right now. Please if anyone can help,no matter how much, anything will be appreciated and put directly towards rent.
God bless all of you and thank you for everything.
Recently, I lost my job because of these challenges, and we have been struggling to keep up with our rent for the past few weeks. We are currently living in an affordable suites in Gastonia, and the uncertainty of our housing situation has made things even more stressful for both of us. Stable housing would mean everything right now—it would give me the peace of mind to focus on KO’s care and give us both a sense of security while I search for new employment.
I am reaching out for help to cover our rent and keep a roof over our heads during this difficult time. Any support will go directly toward ensuring KO has a safe and stable place to live while I work to get us back on our feet. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can offer.
