Help Klatt Elementary 5th Graders Experience the Wilds of Alaska!

Support Outdoor Education for Young Explorers

Imagine a classroom without walls—where our amazing Alaskan mountains, glacial lakes, and ancient forests become the teachers. Thirty-one Klatt 5th-grade students have the incredible opportunity to attend an immersive outdoor education program in the heart of Alaska, but we need your help to make it happen!

Our 5th grade classrooms will move to Portage Valley for 3 days and 2 nights with Alaska Outdoor School, featuring four guided outdoor field studies and other hands-on STEM activities! They'll be staying at the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center. The Center features exhibits, a theater, classroom, and other versatile spaces and is perched above the shore of Portage Lake in the heart of Portage Valley, where rich cultural and natural history will afford our students an incredible diversity of environments to explore!

This program isn’t just a field trip—it’s a life-changing experience. Outdoor education fosters teamwork, resilience, environmental stewardship, and a deep connection to the natural world. For many of these students, it will be their first time exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska beyond their hometowns.

Klatt Elementary PTA (EIN 92-0126689) is receiving the funds on behalf of the school, and all funds will be used directly for our 5th grade students' participation in the Alaska Outdoor School*. Questions about your donation or donation receipt requests can be emailed to Klatt PTA.
