Kitty Shahhovskoi has been a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator at Palisades Tahoe/Alpine, organizing ski races and supporting the volunteer staff for years. She is always kind, helpful, and understanding, making her a wonderful asset to the volunteer program and a beloved member of the community. For nearly her entire working career, Kitty has worked on the mountain and lived in the condo she purchased 35 years ago.

Unfortunately, the severe winter storm of 2023/24 caused extensive damage to her building. The homeowners association assessed a large fee for repairs, and while insurance covered much of the damage, Kitty is still left with a significant financial burden. Now, at nearly 80 years old and on a very limited income, she is facing the heartbreaking reality of having to sell her only asset—the condo she has called home for decades. With her family gone, a part-time job, and a little Social Security, money is hard to come by. Because she has been unable to pay the fee, she is also facing late fees and interest, and her condo is on the market but has not sold yet.

Kitty is so kind and giving, and many in the community would love to help her stay in her home. Donations will go directly toward the assessed fee to make the required repairs, so Kitty and her precious dog can remain in their condo.
