Help Kirsty financially recover from Drs orders!

Hello!

If you're reading this you're already considering what it means for you to help this situation and I am so grateful.

I want this to be a surprise, so I would appreciate if you didn't share this gofundme with my sister. I am aiming to raise money to help assist with mounting costs after an abrupt end to my sisters work schedule.

Kirsty's only clear goal in life has been to become a Mum. Thats the only goal that has never wavered throughout all the ups and downs of life. As a gay woman, this was never going to be 'traditional'. Even more so that she chose to continue on the path of motherhood as a single parent. She most recently said to me that almost 10 years ago she stopped making excuses and waiting for the "perfect scenario" knowing that partners may come and go but she was no longer in a position to negotiate this situation with new people in her life and to grab the opportunity whilst she still felt able. And so the many years of trying began.

Various failed IUI treatments had also prevented any further assistance through the amazing NHS and so it became a stark realisation that IVF was the next route. We all know how expensive IVF is, and with no partner, this had to be funded entirely from her own pocket. She had some inheritance and she knew she would use it all for IVF. Her first try was not successful. I was there when she got the call and the devastation really hit me. She really wanted this. Thankfully her second try was a success and Swirlie came into existence. (Baby's nickname is Swirlie... it just stuck.)

Here's where we get to the reason for the gofundme. Being self employed has come with its own downfalls, negotiating maternity leave and the financial losses whilst still paying for the upkeep of a business was always part of the plan in the lead up to birth. We had a plan in place that allowed budgets to stretch and with assistance from the government things looked like they might be tough but absolutely doable.

Then it became increasingly clear that this wasn't going to be the happy, glowing, energised pregnancy as is so often advertised. Kirsty started showing signs of discomfort quite early on and was told by her physio that she was likely going be in a lot of pain due to an ongoing coccyx issue. This has progressed into severe hip and pelvic pains rendering her physically unable to move some days. After speaking to her GP she was signed off work completely and told to rest. This was not part of the plan.

Kirsty was meant to finish work the week before Christmas. She was signed off 8 weeks before this. This means there is 8 weeks of salary, business expense, saving, baby fund and bills unaccounted for. She has done everything in her power to make sure she has crunched every bill and sorted out all her finances as quickly as possible to make ends meet but the ends aren't meeting. To top it off, her boiler packed in and needs to be completely replaced and is beyond repair - so I had to spring to action! Thats where hopefully you will come in.

As far as I see it, as a family, we are doing our absolute best to make sure she remains rested, calm and feels supported financially and it occurred to me that people in varying degrees of size, can be incredibly generous. Small donations from large groups of people can amount to situation, and sometimes life, changing sums of money. I am not asking for much, but I would love to be able to say to her "thanks to the generosity of this community, you don't need to stress about where the money is coming to pay for that boiler or your business loan this month etc".

I debated this for a long time in fear of judgement, embarrassment on my sisters behalf, (I am scared she will be mortified I've done this) and because of pride, honestly. But I was encouraged by a few people and we really have nothing to lose. Every single penny will help towards making sure Kirsty is able to keep her business afloat by paying her bills and her business loans so she can focus on just finally getting the one thing she always wanted - little Swirlie.

Thanks so much for taking the time to consider - if you cannot help financially please do share with friends and family who may be able to donate!
