Help Kieran Keddy Fight Motor Neurone Disease (ALS,MND),

The Story

My name is Anne-Noreen, and I am reaching out with a heartfelt plea for support for my beloved big brother, Kieran, his fantastic wife,Mary and their two wonderful boys, Eoin and Louis. In March 2024 their lives were turned upside down when Kieran was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), also known as ALS. They are facing an unimaginable journey. As a small token I am committing to run 161km across the month of August, in an effort to raise money for Kieran, Mary, Eoin and Louis. Any donations you can make, will make a huge difference to our wonderful Texas Keddys.

Kieran’s Battle

Kieran is the rock of his family, a devoted father, and a loving husband, a dedicated son, brilliant big brother and uncle, friend to many, foe to none. His passion for life, boundless energy, and unwavering love for his family plus his guitar skills, have always brought joy and light to all those who have the privilege to know him. However, this past year, he noticed subtle changes in his strength and weight. After numerous tests and doctor visits, it was concluded that Kieran has MND/ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

This diagnosis has shattered all our worlds, The disease is relentless, and there is currently no cure.

Kieran and Family’s Needs

As Kieran’s condition progresses, the financial burden on his family will be big. There will be costs for medical treatments, specialized equipment, potentially moving from their current home and modifications to a new one when the time comes, and in-home care. Additionally, we want to make sure that Kieran, Mary, Eoin and Louis have access to emotional support throughout this difficult time.

Medical Expenses: Covering the costs of treatments, therapies, and medications not covered by insurance.

Home Modifications: Making a home accessible and safe for Kieran’s needs.

Specialized Equipment: Purchasing necessary items such as wheelchairs, communication devices, and adaptive equipment.

Support for the family: Ensuring they all have access to counselling, support groups, and activities that help them cope with Kieran's illness.
