Hello friends

My name is Daria. I came to Canada from Ukraine a few years ago. My family is still there, braving this terrible situation.

I have volunteered to take in 2 kids from Kharkiv (which is completely destroyed) who were my students in the school I used to teach, while their parents stay in Ukraine.

The kids are leaving Kharkiv tomorrow morning and their dad is driving them to the Poland border where my friend is going to pick them up and bring them to Warsaw for about a week while they have their biometrics and visitor visa issued to come to Canada. When that is done, they will be put on a plane to Toronto where I will pick them up and keep them until it is safe to return to Ukraine.

There are a lot of costs involved that i could use some help with. The stay in Warsaw, fights, and things like new beds, bedding, clothes, toys and school supplies are all immediate costs.

 We don’t know what they are bringing with them, but it won’t be much. And the kids are a 17 year old girl and 9 year old boy. Any kind of donation in any amount helps. I know a lot of people want to help but don’t know how- this is a way to make an actual difference in the lives of 2 kids. And if you aren’t able to help now, but are able to share this post, we would be so grateful.

UPDATE 

Kids received visas and waiting for their passports to be returned from Embassy. They are in Warsaw right now.

The girl arrived to Canada on Friday.
