Help Kids Stay with their Mom

In 2022 I lost my home and I almost lost my children and my life in a home shooting. After the shooting, we moved to another home, but less than a year later in 2023, we were unable to renew our lease due to the owners wanting to sell. In addition, I found out my contract with my job was ending in June 2024. My ex-husband told me that I could stay in his home with our kids until I figure out the job situation. Unfortunately, moving in together has been miserable for all of us. After talking with my children in depth, we decided we all wanted to move to Arizona to be closer to family so we can be safe, stop living on egg shells, and move forward with our lives after suffering so much trauma in this state. We spoke to my ex-husband together about our plans, and while he was not happy, he did agree. I have job interviews lined up, a place to stay, and the kids and I were excited about our new future. On May 6th, my ex-husband dropped the ball on me that he decided to fight the move unless I was willing to adjust the parenting plan and force them to spend holidays and vacations with him against their will.

I now have to pay a minimum $5,000 retainer and up to $12,000 for an attorney to fight to keep my children from having to be hours away from me somewhere they don't feel safe, and where they don’t want to be, in a town with no friends and no support. My ex has also given me a 28 day eviction notice to vacate which is going to cost thousands in hotel rooms while we sort this out in court.

I’m about to lose an incredible job opportunity and a chance at a fresh start to instead be homeless and jobless in a state that holds nothing but painful memories and trauma for me and my kids.
