We are one family from Gaza: Kholoud, a 33-year-old mother, and Mohammed, a 37-year-old father of three young children. Indeed, we are a five-member family living under the suffocation of genocide. We are mainly from Northern Gaza. Our suffering began during the 2008-2009 escalation when our house was completely destroyed. Yet, we stand once again and move on despite all the boundaries of life. However, the 2023 genocide changed the entire formula and demolished every aspect of life, creating a long-lasting disaster. Our house was completely buried underground for the second time. Not only our house, but also our wedding hall, The Golden Hole, the only source of income for more than 20 people, has been lost. Our finances depended entirely on renting this hall, which has now faded away. Currently, we have nothing to rely on but Allah. Our children lack the simplest human rights before our eyes, adding extra suffering to our hearts. There’s no harsh feeling equal to your inability to provide your children with healthy food, a warm house, a dream to live, and a future to create. This is a short summary of our situation, and if we have one wish, it would be for a normal life far from death, destruction, terror, horror, and loss, where our children’s dreams of a better tomorrow can thrive and are not assassinated by impossibility, and their dignity is preserved like that of any other child worldwide.
