I'm Alaa Hinawi, living in Germany. I'm trying to help my nephew Khalil, who is doing his best to support his family after losing his source of income, given the difficult circumstances they are all experiencing in Gaza.

Hello, name is Khalil, I'm 23 years old and live in the north of the Gaza Strip.

I'm turning to you today because I urgently need your help.

My family (parents and siblings) and I had a good and beautiful life until the war began. We earned our living through our supermarket and clothing factory.

And then the war began...

Israel bombed and destroyed our beautiful country.

We lost our livelihoods.

Thousands of innocent children, babies, and adults have already died in this war.

In the beginning, the Israeli army forced us to leave our homes and flee to a camp.

After months of patiently hoping, we finally received the long-awaited news of a ceasefire.

Full of joy, we packed the few things we could take with us on the escape and set out on the arduous, days-long journey to our homeland.

We were excited to see our friends and family again.

But barely arrived home when the next shock and humiliation came at the hands of the Israeli army.

Hardly nothing remained of our beautiful city.

Almost everything had been bombed. Including our livelihood: our own clothing factory and supermarket.

On top of that, there is no running water, electricity, or humanitarian aid.

Food, if there is any at all, is overpriced and hard to come by. We haven't eaten meat or fresh vegetables for weeks. We don't have other basic foodstuffs (milk, juices, etc.) either.

The medication my mother needs is unavailable.

Furthermore, the ceasefire was broken again by Israel after a short time. And the fear of dying has begun all over again.

The only way out to survive and have a reasonably decent and safe quality of life would be to leave Gaza. However, this is very expensive.

The option to leave the Rafah border crossing (towards Egypt) is very costly. The exit fee is €5,000 for an adult and €2,500 for minors.

Unfortunately, despite our hard work in the past, my family and I have not been able to save much money. My family consists of my father, mother, my three sisters (26, 24, and 14 years old), my brother (21 years old), and me (23 years old).

That's why I'm turning to you today with hope.

I'm not asking for much. But every euro you can donate will help my family and me get closer to our goal of living in peace.
