Hello my name is Teresa. My dear friend, Khadija, was born, raised and lived most of her life in the USA. She grew up in Washington DC. 11 years ago she came to Morocco and married a Moroccan man. She had every intention of returning, together, back to the USA but life threw her a curveball. I’ve created this GoFund Me account because she is in desperate need of funds to begin a new life back in the USA.

She is a loving mother of 2 daughters. The 3 of them live in Morocco with her husband and their father. They’ve endured emotional and verbal abuse, isolation, and control at the hands of their husband/father. Khadija has spent the last many years enduring. She works full time teaching English here in Morocco, cooks, cleans, and raises the children. Every penny she makes is spent on the necessities to survive.

She, like many people, believed in love. She believed in marriage. She entered into her marriage with very different expectations for her life.

11 years ago her Mother, wanting to eventually be buried close to her parents of Moroccan descent, came to Morocco with her and her sister. Khadija married her husband and shortly after her mother passed away. Heartbroken, she mourned her mother’s death. Her desires to move back to the USA were shattered when her husband’s controlling demeanour, abuse and threats surfaced. She’s spent nothing short of 11 years ‘trapped’ in Morocco. She’s never been back to the USA since.

She is smart, clever, charming and a fighter. Her strength to remain strong for her children keeps her putting one foot in front of the other.

For 2 years Khadija has been desperately applying to jobs in the USA.

And she has just got one!!!

She absolutely smashed the interview and impressed her future boss. They will help with a rental contract but not with travel costs.

I’m writing to you today to ask you to help her get to the USA and begin a new life. She needs money for plane tickets for her and her two daughters, money for her first and last months rent and a bit of money to help her get started that first month before she receives a pay check.

She’s found the inner strength and courage to take back control of her life. And she’s done the work by getting a job offer! She has 3 weeks to raise money and get herself and her daughters safety to the USA.

They have an apartment in mind, they have their passports and they have each other. Please if you can donate anything to help them with these travel costs you would be giving the gift of a new start. A new chapter. A new LIFE for a wonderful and charming little family.

They just need to get there!
