Keweenaw Boxing Club is a community-focused boxing club located in historic Calumet. Our goal is to promote accessible and inclusive boxing and fitness in Copper Country. We are not a profit-driven organization. We offer boxing training on a sliding scale donation system and do not turn anyone away due to lack of money. We were a sponsor of Keweenaw Pridefest and hosted a community outreach table at that event. It is our goal to make boxing, fitness, and self-defense accessible and safe to people who have felt uncomfortable entering historically macho boxing gyms. We also organize food drives for a local food bank in cooperation with Calumet Free Fridge. The food drive will be a continuous effort by our club.
Currently, our gym is located in the historic Drill Shop building in Calumet. We share the building with Copper Country Curling Club.
While concrete floors are good for creating an ice surface for curling, it is not ideal for boxing workouts. With this GoFundMe, we intend to purchase rubber gym mat flooring. The cost of this flooring to cover a size of 16' x 20' would be approximately $900. We also hope to either purchase or build a boxing ring. The cost of a boxing ring can vary greatly but averages around $5000 for a quality ring. We also need a free-standing punching bag stand that can hold 4-6 heavy bags. The cost of the punching bag stand is about $900.
We are hoping to raise $6800 for this equipment.
Please help our club continue to thrive. We are asking for donations in any amount to help us reach our goal. Thank you all for your support!
