Having known Keri for the past 10 years, I can safely say – without an ounce of doubt in my mind- that she is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. Despite her own struggles when navigating life’s twists and turns, she is always there to lean on in times of need; can be relied upon to send a quick ‘How are you text?’ when weeks have passed and you’ve just not caught your breath; and never misses a birthday (even when you, yourself, are absolutely useless at remembering hers!). For the past decade, I have felt truly blessed to call her my friend: she is the mother-hen in our girl group and we love her more than she
will ever know!
Throughout our entire friendship, Keri has made no secret of the fact that she wants to be a mother and for many years this has been her goal. In this time, she has watched countless friends become parents and has done so without bitterness or resentment, but with the utmost grace and support. She is there at the baby showers; the first birthday parties; and all that comes in between. This is something which I can only imagine has been very difficult when she wants, so badly, to have a child of her own.
As a nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Keri spends her days caring for the children of others and has dedicated much of her time to making sure babies and young children have the best start in life. She would make an absolutely amazing mum – as I have no doubt all who know her would agree- and it seems so unfair and unjust that nature will just not let this happen. Keri and her partner, John, have been together for 17 years and have so much love to offer a baby and it is such a shame that this has not happened for them yet.
Having already had an unsuccessful round of IVF (due to other complications), Keri and John are eager to try again in the hope that this time they will be more successful. Whilst they have been saving diligently over the last few years, they still need a little more to reach their target. Babies are not cheap- and even more so for Keri and John.
Whilst many of us have wished we could wave a magic wand, or have a lottery win to make their dreams come true, this – unfortunately- isn’t possible. But between us, we might just be able to spread a little pixie dust and raise enough funds to give them a fighting chance at round 2.
Any donation big or small would mean the world to them!
