I’m doing everything I can for my family, and right now I need a little help.
I never imagined I would ask for help, but after years of being separated from my wife and young son, I’m reaching out.
My four-year-old son, Derek Viseth Ken, is a U.S. citizen currently in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We filed immigration paperwork in fall 2021 expecting 14–18 months, but years later we are still waiting while my wife raises him overseas.
Derek has developmental delays and is behind in speech. He attends a special school in Phnom Penh, and I hope to bring him to the United States for further evaluation, support, and better long-term opportunities. Being apart during his early childhood has been incredibly difficult.
I am planning a trip to Cambodia to see him and prepare for our future, but supporting my family from a distance and travel costs are more than I can handle alone. Any support or sharing helps bring us closer to reuniting. Thank you for your kindness.
