**Preserving Hmong History: Voices of Our Elders**
Hello! My name is Kennedy Moua, and I am an 18-year-old proud Hmong American on a mission to preserve our rich cultural heritage. Our elders hold the key to our past, and through their stories, we can uncover the incredible journey of our people during the Vietnam War, also known as The Secret War.
Our elders are getting older, and time is running out to capture their invaluable experiences. If we don’t act now, these powerful stories may be lost forever. This project is not just about recording history; it’s about honoring our elders and ensuring their legacy lives on for future generations.
To bring this vision to life, I have teamed up with a group of dedicated young individuals who share the same commitment to keeping our legacy alive. We have already worked on a film, **HMONG PRIDE**, together, navigating emotional hurdles and overcoming them as a team. This experience has prepared us to handle the delicate and profound task of capturing our elders' stories.
So far, we’ve successfully interviewed 4-5 elders, and we are determined to reach our goal of 25. With your support, we believe we can interview 20 more elders within the next year.
Our goal is to conduct in-depth interviews, capturing their experiences, struggles, and triumphs. These stories are not just history; they are the heart and soul of who we are today. To make these stories accessible to everyone, we plan to design a website that will serve as a virtual museum, honoring our elders and their remarkable journeys.
If successful, we hope to continue and conduct more interviews in the following years. Who knows, we might even collect over 200 or 300 stories in the future.
With your generous support, we can document these untold stories and ensure they are passed down to future generations. Together, we can honor our elders, preserve our heritage, and inspire our community.
Please join us in this vital mission. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to achieving our goal. Thank you for helping us keep the spirit and history of the Hmong people alive.
