I am a semi-retired Geriatric Social Worker living near Cary. An Assisted Living facility I work at, I met Kendra. One of the housekeepers. She came into my clients apartment and told her "everyone wants to throw my baby away". She said the Daycare where she takes her kids told her not to bring back her 7 year old who is Autistic. She was in tears. She told the Daycare not to put her Autistic son in big groups of children because it triggers him to get over stimulated and lashes out. Kendra says he calms down when he hears her voice. The Daycare said they couldn't accommodate him. Through her tears she spoke about leaving an abusive relationship. Her kids are traumatized and fearful they will be homeless again. Kendra's car is broken and she takes Ubers to work and Daycare. She can't afford to lose her job. She is still on probation. I babysat with the children Friday. We went to Pullen Park and the kids had a ball.

Meanwhile Kendra needs her son officially evaluated for Autism to get into ABA 1 to 1 therapy. She has Amerihealth Medicaid which will cover some of these resources once the evaluation is completed. She can't get off work to take him to the appropriate clinician. And she is struggling to pay her rent and her utilities which are in the arears for $1,200. So Kendra needs a lot of assistance to keep herself afloat. Housing, utilities, food, medical needs and transportation. She is washing the few clothes at work and needs help obtaining clothing. Especially for back to school. Any monetary assistance would be greatly appreciated. I keep receipts for everything and can show you where every penny goes.
