We are Josh & Ronda Short, and this is our newest granddaughter, Claire Eden. She was born 3 weeks early to our daughter and son-in-law, Kelly & Aaron. She is their first baby. Kelly was diagnosed with preeclampsia 3 weeks before Claire’s birth and was put on complete bed rest, but ended up having to have a c-section because the baby's heart rate was dropping with each contraction.

After Claire was born, she was 5 pounds 14 ounces and absolutely beautiful. A few days after being born, doctors noticed that she was having episodes of apnea while eating and sleeping, and her lips were turning blue. They thought she was having seizures, but thankfully that has been ruled out. They have put this baby through so many tests to find out why this is happening, but everything is coming back negative, which is good, but they still have no answers. So, yesterday she was transferred to the children’s hospital so they can do further testing and figure out why this is happening. They have brought up myopathy; we are praying that also gets ruled out.

Kelly & Aaron both work full-time. Kelly is currently on maternity leave, but Aaron is still working and driving every day to the hospital. The new hospital they are in is 2 hours from their house, so Kelly is staying with Claire, but Aaron still has to work. If anyone has been through this, you know how financially and emotionally heartbreaking it is to leave your newborn baby every day. If anyone could help this young new family out, it would be so much appreciated. If you can’t help financially, please keep this family in your prayers and pray this beautiful baby girl is nothing but healthy and they can all go home soon.
