Some context
Kenya has many orphans from HIV/AIDS and now because of COVID. Pastors Flora and Stephen are looking after 22 of them in Western Kenya, now that their own kids have grown up. They have fund-raised and worked hard to build a decent home and ensure they are loved, educated and fed. Water used to be one kilometre away. They now have a well and tank - and a cow for milk.
Here's their problem
The dormitories, their cow and facilities are not secure, which worries them at night. The girls are vulnerable. Everyone and everything they've worked for is less safe without a fence and gate.
Flora and Stephen have risked everything to take care of these children, and need people's generosity to maintain a decent standard of care. Even with Kenya's lack of vaccines, not one child has come down with COVID!
Here’s what we’re doing about it
We're raising money for a security fence, to keep the children and their facilities safe at night. This is their next priority.
Then there's this year's educational costs. At an average of AUD$100 per child per year, we'd also like to contribute AUD$2,200 to the costs of the orphans' education in 2022.
You can join us
All up, they need the equivalent of just $5,700 to buy a good gate and a basic brick fence around the facilities and some help with the children's educational needs. Will you help?
