Hey lovely folx!

We are The Queery - the only cafe, bookshop and event space for the queer and trans community of Brighton & Hove.

Our little community of trans people are facing all kinds of horrors from the government and other gammons and life is pretty grim for trans people right now.

The Queery is a unique, safe place and if you’ve ever visited, you’ll know how important it is to keep spaces like ours open, especially for our more vulnerable coop members.

The usual grant-giving organisations are finding it difficult to fund places like ours because they too are influenced transphobic board members and want to avoid "controversy" when they choose which organisations to support.

So your support will help us pay our bills directly, keep the events rolling and give us the means to plan better for our future.

THE FUTURE

For clarity, we have a solid financial plan and a modest income form our cafe and bookstore, but our rent alone is £2,100 a month.

The last couple of years have been tough for so many community spaces, so thank you for even reading this!! Our LGBTQIA+ community faces all kinds of crazy challenges and abuse and we desperately need to keep our doors open and provide a daytime space to feel safe and included.

The Queery is a true community effort, run entirely by volunteers and, with your help, we can continue to do our work.

We pride ourselves in being a leader of the UK’s alternative queer spaces and just want to continue to grow a truly safe space for every queer, trans person of colour who comes through our door. Every penny you can pledge is a massive help.
