Good Day Fellow Audiophiles,

On Tuesday September 14th, 2021, the audio engineering community lost one of its most iconic studio designers, John Sayers.

John was responsible for building a community of like-minded individuals to share, educate, mentor, and help each other as they embarked on the journey to build their own home and professional recording studios. His website, JohnLSayers.com, was a staple of the audio engineering community and one of the most frequently cited resources for learning more about how to do everything from sound proofing to treating a room for acoustical response.

Sadly, after his passing the site went offline and the hundreds of thousands of posts, along with the greatest wealth of information on recording studio design, was lost.

Remarkably, a well timed backup of the sites database was made just before everything went offline. After connecting with several of the moderators of the site and putting in quite a few hours of development I was able to bring it back to life under a new domain John L Sayers Archive. While this new version is missing some photos and other files, a lot of the information was retained and is searchable for reference purposes.

This brings us to today. I was quite happy to help get the site back online for the audio engineering community, however the costs to keep the site running are quite high. While I could monetize, I don't think it's a great idea. John never monetized and I don't think he would want us to either.

I am starting this go fund me to help keep the archive online and available to the community. The yearly costs to keep the site running are around $1500 USD/year. This includes hosting, database administration, email service, domain, SSL certificates, and a WAF firewall for spam prevention.

I want to be very clear that this is not an effort to raise money for me or his family, this is purely to front the costs of keeping the archive online and operational for the audio community to continue to use and reference. I hope some of you who have used the site and gained some value from the community there will help to keep it alive for the foreseeable future.

If it can not be successfully funded, I will be shutting the site down on December 31st.
