Help Keep "Queer Neurodivergents and Alternatives" going

Donation protected
James is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and the neurodivergent, mental health, and disability communities. He understands how challenging it can be to find a space that offers support and security across multiple communities simultaneously. Additionally, he understands how challenging it can be for adults to form new friendships and access support and advice from those who share similar experiences.

James voluntarily created and manages the nonprofit group “Queer Neurodivergents and Alternatives”, and is dedicated to supporting individuals (aged 18+) within the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent/Mental health communities. His responsibilities include planning and hosting events at wheelchair accessible venues, managing the group’s online presence through social media and the website, and generally mixing with members by engaging in conversation and providing support wherever possible. He currently pays for online fees and other costs from his own limited funds with the help of occasional donations from members.

The long-term goal is to establish a safe and secure location for the group that would allow members to drop in for support/connection on days beyond the current event schedule. This expansion would make the group more accessible to a larger number of people who may benefit from it.

Queer Neurodivergents and Alternatives is a volunteer-led social support group aimed at individuals over the age of 18 who identify as part of both the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent/mental health/disability communities. The ultimate aim is to create accessible, safe spaces where members can connect, have fun, and feel free to express themselves without fear of judgment for being "different."

The funds will be used to cover essential costs that keep the group operational and accessible to as many people as possible. This includes expenses for volunteer travel, online fees, and future fixed costs such as rent, utilities, and refreshments. Currently, the costs consist of supplies for a monthly relaxed activities event and online fees (including the website, domain, and MeetUp), which are being covered by James’ limited personal funds and amount to approximately £500-600 per year. The group is very important to James, and the thought of having to stop providing this space due to funding limitations elicits a strong emotional response. James has been running the group solely for almost a Year and a Half, but originally started it 3 years ago with a Co-host who is no longer in the picture.

All donation amounts are helpful. We understand that not everyone can contribute large sums of money, and that's perfectly fine. Sharing our cause with friends, family, or on social media to help spread the word is also greatly appreciated. We are thankful for anyone willing and able to assist! (In any way.)
