The Medina County Museum in Hondo, Texas, has been located in an old Southern Pacific Railway Depot since the 1970s. It contains over 2,000 items donated by descendants of the pioneer families who came to the county in the 1840s in hopes of a better life than they had in the old country.
The Museum is supported solely by donations from the public, some assistance from the city, and from City of Hondo Hotel Occupancy Tax Funds. However, the tax funding, which helps pay for a part-time docent and for restricted preservation efforts, has been greatly reduced this year. The museum is in danger of closing. Your generous support will provide funding for upkeep. The museum has many stories to tell...it would be a tragedy to let it die. Thank you for your consideration.
