We need your help to keep Kurorti independent, free, and open.
Kurorti is an open, independent artistic space founded by Georgian artists in 2023. Located in central Tbilisi, in the historic district of Vorontsovi, Kurorti occupies a two-storey residential house built at the end of the 19th century.
The space brings together artists’ studios, independent book publishers, and small shops featuring handmade objects. More importantly, Kurorti is a meeting point for ideas, people, and artistic practices. We host exhibitions, book launches, film screenings, experimental music performances, discussions, and other social and cultural gatherings.
At its core, Kurorti is an open platform. We believe that art should not have to follow commercial interests, institutional agendas, or political expectations. Anyone with an original idea or an experimental proposal is welcome..
Why Kurorti Matters
Independent cultural spaces are especially important in Georgia’s current socio-political environment. Over the past three years, Kurorti has become an active part of Tbilisi’s contemporary art scene, building a loyal and engaged community around it.
At a time when freedom of speech and expression are increasingly under pressure, we believe it is essential to maintain places where people can think freely, experiment, gather, disagree, create, and be heard.
Recent changes to regulations concerning international funding, including the introduction of so-called “foreign agents” law, have made external funding increasingly difficult to access. International support previously played an important role in keeping Kurorti running and in supporting the wider artistic community in Georgia.
Since these changes, Kurorti has been fully supported by its members and founders, most of whom are independent artists themselves. While this commitment has allowed us to keep the doors open, it has also significantly limited our activities and our ability to operate as we did before.
Kurorti is one of the few remaining artistic spaces in Tbilisi that is fully independent—free from government control, corporate ownership, and commercial agendas. We believe that spaces like this must remain open and accessible to the artistic community.
By supporting Kurorti, you are not simply helping to maintain a physical space. You are investing in an independent artistic community and in the possibility of free expression.
Help us keep Kurorti independent.
Help us keep the doors open.
