When Access Sacramento decided to shut down our beloved station, I knew I couldn’t let our community lose such an important platform. That’s why, over the past year, I created KUCU916 Community Radio station —a new home for local voices, music, and stories. With the help of more than 40 local producers, we’ve continued to bring live high school sports coverage to families, giving parents the chance to hear their kids’ games and celebrate their achievements. We’ve also worked hard to keep public radio alive in Sacramento, ensuring that our city still has a station that truly represents its people. From buying banners to organizing events at regional parks, every step has been about keeping our community connected and informed.
