Hello everyone,
We find ourselves in an emergent need of professional legal support to navigate the complexities of the matter at hand.
My children are being faced with being ripped from our home against their will, where they have been their entire lives, and forced to move to Oklahoma on December 21, 2024, due to the lies my ex-husband and his attorney have told the Oklahoma Courts.
I filed for divorce from my ex-husband in 2016 out of Oklahoma. The attorney fees from my divorce cost me upwards of $70,000.00. I was awarded sole care and custody of my three children in common with my ex-husband. My ex-husband was also ordered to pay child support as well as approximately $60,000.00 in property and debt division, which he refuses to pay. My ex-husband has not paid a penny towards the property and debt division and is behind in child support by approximately $45,000.00.
Due to the high cost of an attorney, my husband and I have been forced to defend ourselves against my ex-husband's abusive litigation and harassment in court since 2019 in Washington. My ex-husband and his mother have also harassed and threatened our family so much that we were granted multiple protection orders against both my ex-husband and his mother in the past. Currently, my ex-husband and his mother are harassing my husband's place of employment by making false allegations and making an obscene amount of records requests in an attempt to have my husband fired.
In our case in Washington State, I even requested a Guardian ad Litem be put on our case to help prove the things my ex was saying in his filings were false. The GAL made a report and submitted it to the court stating that all visitation and residential time between my ex and my children be stopped. I feel as though our case could have come to trial by now, but we are unable to afford an attorney and are not educated in what and how to file the correct things in court, as well as we have been constantly bombarded for the past almost 9 years with having to defend ourselves against the filings of my ex-husband.
As you can imagine, legal fees can quickly become overwhelming, and unfortunately, my husband and I do not have the necessary resources to cover the full cost of legal representation as we are a family of six with four extremely busy children. That’s why we are humbly requesting your help to fund the legal expenses required to ensure we receive the proper guidance and representation. We would also be interested in attorney referrals or assistance from attorneys that can work on a payment basis or pro bono.
Since my ex has not been satisfied by the Washington Courts, he has re-opened our 2016 divorce case in Oklahoma and has told lies to the Oklahoma court without providing any proof to his claims. A hearing was held on November 21, 2024, that I was not made aware of, and my ex was granted custody to begin on December 21, 2024, on default, due to me not being present for the hearing.
I have always been the sole caretaker and custodian of my three eldest children in common with my ex and was granted sole custody of my children after I filed for divorce in 2016.
Without representation, we risk facing unfavorable outcomes and my children being forced to move against their will; from their home, schools, family, friends, their mom, little brother, and stepdad whom they love and love them more than anything.
On average, it costs $5,000.00 - $10,000.00 down to retain an attorney, but with the frivolous filings and abusive litigation that my ex has shown in court since 2016, we are worried it will amount to much more than the basic retainer cost. We have tried finding an attorney in Washington, but they either had too high of a retainer or were unwilling to represent us due to the harassment my ex has done upon anyone in the court having any contact with our case.
This legal situation has put us in a difficult position, and without access to proper legal representation, the consequences could be severe. Your support will allow us to hire an attorney who can help navigate this challenging time, ensuring that we can move forward with confidence and fairness and our children can remain in our custody.
My children have no interest in ever living with their dad and have no interest in being uprooted from their home and away from everyone they know, to move to Oklahoma. Our children have lived with us and been cared for by us their entire lives. Our children are the most amazing children ever and have an amazing and loving home and life. It is not fair that our children are faced with the selfishness of their dad. My husband and I will continue to fight for them for however long it takes.
