Hi everyone!

If you know me, you probably know how much time, work and love I’ve put into Cainfinity, a fan-made website dedicated to Dean Cain and his career.

Cainfinity started as a passion project, created by a fan for fans. My goal is to bring together information about Dean’s career, movies, TV shows, interviews, photos, videos, appearances and much more, all in one place.

As the website has grown, however, so have the costs of keeping it online and developing new features.

That’s why I decided to create this fundraiser.

I want to be completely transparent about where the money goes and what it actually costs to run Cainfinity.

What does it cost to run Cainfinity?

There are several different expenses involved. Some are recurring, while others depend on how much content I’m adding or which features I’m working on.

Website & hosting

Pro website plan — €25/month

This is the main plan required to keep Cainfinity running with the features and resources the website needs.

Domain name — approximately €15/year

This covers the Cainfinity website address and keeps the domain registered.

APIs & technical services

API services — starting at around $5/month

Some of the tools and services used to build and maintain Cainfinity rely on APIs.

The basic subscription can start around $5 per month, but the actual cost can be higher depending on usage.

Some individual API requests can also cost around $5 each.

When I’m actively working on Cainfinity, I can make several paid requests per week, especially when adding or updating large amounts of information.

Because of this, API costs are not always predictable and can vary considerably from one month to another.

Video editing

Video editing tools — approximately €7/month

Some Cainfinity content requires video editing, processing, formatting or other editing work.

The tools I use can cost around €7/month, depending on the subscription or service required.

There can also be additional video-related expenses when specific content requires more resources.

Storage / additional online services — approximately €5–10/month when needed

As Cainfinity grows, more photos, videos and other media need to be stored and managed.

Additional storage, bandwidth or online services may therefore create extra costs.

Additional tools & services — approximately €5–10/month when needed

Some Cainfinity features require specific software, plugins, subscriptions or online services.

These costs aren’t necessarily monthly, but they can appear whenever I’m developing a new feature or improving an existing one.

So how much does Cainfinity actually cost?

The basic recurring expenses can already reach approximately:

€25/month — Pro website plan

~$5/month or more — API services

~€7/month — video editing tools

~€5–10/month — storage and other services when needed

~€5–10/month — additional development tools when needed

~€15/year — domain

That means the basic operating costs can easily reach €40–50+ per month, before additional API requests, videos, media-related expenses or new development tools.

And some months can cost considerably more than others.

For example, if I’m working heavily on a new feature and need several paid API requests, purchase additional video resources or increase storage, the total can quickly increase.

❤️ Why am I asking for donations?

Cainfinity isn’t a business.

I don’t charge fans to access the website, and I don’t want the website to become something people have to pay to enjoy.

It is a fan project that I created because I genuinely love Dean Cain, his work and the community surrounding him.

I want Cainfinity to be a place where fans can discover his career, revisit old projects, find interviews and appearances, explore photos and videos, learn new things and simply enjoy being part of the fandom.

But keeping a website like this online isn’t completely free.

I’m happy to put my own time into researching, organizing, creating and updating the website. What is becoming more difficult, however, is covering all of the technical expenses myself.

That’s where your support would make a real difference. ❤️

What can a donation help with?

Every amount helps, even a small one.

Can help cover part of an API request or another small technical expense.

Can contribute toward storage, editing tools or website services.

Can help cover the Cainfinity domain for a year.

$25

Can help cover one month of the Pro website plan.

$50

Can contribute toward several of the website’s monthly expenses and development costs.

Can help significantly with several months of technical expenses, API usage, video work and future development.

These are examples rather than fixed allocations. Donations may be combined to pay for the actual expenses Cainfinity has at the time.

What will the donations be used for?

Money raised through this fundraiser will be used for Cainfinity-related expenses, including:

* Website hosting and the Pro plan

* Domain registration

* API subscriptions and individual API requests

* Video editing and processing

* Video-related resources

* Image and media resources

* Storage and bandwidth

* Website development tools

* Plugins and additional services

* Future Cainfinity features and improvements

* Other technical expenses directly related to maintaining the website

I will not pretend that every expense is exactly the same every month. Some costs are fixed, while others depend entirely on what I’m working on.

What if the fundraiser raises more than expected?

If the fundraiser raises more than the immediate operating costs, the additional money will remain dedicated to Cainfinity.

It can be used for future hosting, domain renewal, APIs, storage, video-related expenses, development tools, new features and other costs associated with keeping the website running.

The goal isn’t to make money from Cainfinity.

The goal is simply to make sure that the project can continue to exist, grow and become the best fan resource I can make it.

You don’t have to donate

Please don’t feel pressured to contribute.

I know that everyone has their own expenses and not everyone is able to donate — and that’s completely okay.

Sharing this fundraiser with other Dean Cain fans is already a huge help.

Even visiting Cainfinity, sharing the website, talking about it with other fans or simply supporting the project means a lot to me.

Cainfinity is something I’ve built little by little, with a lot of research, time, late nights and, most importantly, a lot of love.

What started as a simple fan project has grown into something much bigger than I originally imagined.

I would love to keep improving it, adding new content, creating new features and making it a place that Dean Cain fans can continue to enjoy for years to come.

What if we raise more than our €1,000 goal?

My goal is to raise €1,000, which would help cover approximately one year of Cainfinity’s operating, technical and development costs.

If the fundraiser raises more than the amount needed for Cainfinity’s expenses, the additional funds will be used to support End the Wait and JCFilms, two causes/projects that are important to the Dean Cain community.

The purpose of this fundraiser is therefore not to make a profit. The goal is to keep Cainfinity running, continue developing the website, and, if we are fortunate enough to raise more than needed, use the extra support to give back to the community. ❤️

I will always be transparent about this: Cainfinity’s necessary expenses come first, and any remaining funds will go toward supporting End the Wait and JCFilms.
