Help Give 8 Yr Old Brantley a Chance to Be Heard

My name is Brittney Gilbert, and I’m a single mother living in Boyd County, Kentucky. I am reaching out in hopes to get some help with legal fees related to a custody case involving my 8-year-old son, Brantley. Brantley has lived primarily with me his whole life and attends Summit Elementary, where he participates in the gifted and talented program. Despite that he is academically advanced and thriving at his school, a judge recently granted primary custody to his father based on hearsay and false allegations. During the hearing, Brantley’s Guardian ad Litem was not permitted in the courtroom, and neither was his therapist to testify on his behalf. I have since hired an attorney to file an appeal and have exhausted my savings in doing so. However, I now need to file a CR 60.02 motion to present unheard evidence that could change the outcome of this case. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the required $5,000 retainer. I’ve contacted Legal Aid of the Bluegrass, but they are unable to assist me because I have already retained a lawyer for the appeal. I am not currently represented for ongoing custody matters. I am a single mother, working as a Kentucky College Coach through AmeriCorps at ACTC. Im currently looking for side jobs as well. Uprooting Brantley from the only home he’s ever known to move him 1.5 hours away would be deeply disruptive to his life and education.  Please help me fight for my son.
