The 1st Kingsteignton Guides Unit has proudly been giving girls the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, make lifelong friendships, and enjoy unforgettable adventures for 70 years. As we celebrate our 70th Birthday this year, we are incredibly proud of the generations of young people who have laughed, learned, grown, and made memories through guiding.
From camping trips and outdoor challenges to community events and evenings around the campfire, our tents have been at the heart of so many special moments. Sadly, after years of use and battling the British weather, many of our tents are now damaged, worn out, and no longer fit for future camps and events.
During our May Camp this year, we experienced some of the worst weather we had ever seen at Taw Bottom Campsite. Torrential downpours quickly showed us that our ageing tents were no longer able to cope with these extreme conditions, leaving many of our girls and leaders wet, cold, and uncomfortable. While we all pulled together and made the best of the situation, it became clear that we urgently need to replace our old equipment before future camps.
At 1st Kingsteignton Guides, we strongly believe that every girl should have the opportunity to experience adventure, friendship, and the outdoors, regardless of their circumstances. We work hard to keep our activities as inclusive and affordable as possible so that no one misses out. Raising funds for new tents will help us continue supporting all of our members and ensure every girl has a safe, warm place to stay during camps and events.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference and go directly towards replacing essential camping equipment for both our current Guides and future generations to come.
Thank you so much for supporting the 1st Kingsteignton Guides Unit and helping us keep adventure alive for the next 70 years.
