Soon, my family and I will be moving to New Zealand for a new job opportunity. While it's an exciting change, there's one heartbreaking complication—our daughter Nicole may have to leave behind her emotional support cat, Sam.

Sam isn’t just a pet. She’s Nicole’s anchor, her companion, her emotional lifeline. They met at an adoption center when Nicole was going through a difficult time, and it was an instant connection—two hearts finding safety in each other. Since then, Sam has never left Nicole’s side, comforting her through anxiety, transitions, and growing pains. Their bond is tender, healing, and irreplaceable.

But international pet relocation is expensive—more than 13,000 cad. That includes medical checks, microchipping, government permits, quarantine, and travel costs. It’s more than we can manage alone.

Every day, Nicole asks if Sam can come. And every time, I see the fear in her eyes that the answer might be no.
