Help Keep A Butch In The UK
Donation protected
Hey! My name is Emma and I am a 27 year old femme lesbian living in Nottingham. I am making this GoFundMe on behalf of myself and my partner, M (who we are keeping relatively anonymous for safety purposes) to help pay for our spousal visa fees, which I have detailed below.
We will be applying for a spousal visa in January 2026, so we are starting the fundraising process early to help alleviate the stress of not knowing if we will have the funds available. We are both currently working minimum wage hospitality jobs. Additionally, I have been completing my Master's degree over the past year, which has slashed my income in half, putting pressure on our financial stability. Outside of this I have been organising lesbian community events in our city and M is an artist. We have been together for over 2 years, and we want to build a happy and healthy life here.
The costs associated with visa fees are causing a massive amount of psychological distress to both of us, and going down this route is currently the only viable option to allow M to stay in the UK. If M was to be deported to Jordan, we would be forced apart, and his safety would be compromised as a trans butch person in a country where being queer is not widely accepted.
We are reaching out to our community and those who love and care for us. We understand money is tight for everyone right now, but if you are in a position to donate, we will be forever grateful. If you cannot donate, please reshare to get the word out. Below are details of the overall costs;
• Spouse Visa Application Fee: £1,258
• Immigration Health Surcharge (2.5 years): £2,587.50
• Priority Processing Fee (optional, but may be crucial to avoid overstaying): £500
• Biometric Appointment Fee: £20
• Solicitor/Immigration Advisor Consultation: £400
• There may be unexpected costs on top of this and are subject to change
Total: £4800
If we end up with more money than we need, we will redistribute the funds into other Immigration GoFundMe’s.
Thank you so much for reading, it really does mean the world.
