My name is Kaung Hein. Each year, I carry on a tradition of making donations to support the homeless and orphaned children in my home country, Myanmar. As an immigrant, I understand the challenges of living in a home yet still facing instability and that experience has deepened my empathy for those who face similar hardships.
This year, I am expanding that tradition by organizing a community event to feed the homeless in Waltham, where I now live. I have reached out to two local organizations—Chaplain on the Way and the Community Day Center of Waltham—to volunteer and donate food. I plan to provide breakfast for 30 people and lunch and dinner for approximately 50 people in our community.
To help fund this initiative, I am organizing a fundraiser with a goal of raising $2,000. One of the key aims is to foster a sense of community involvement within all the graduate programs, as I believe it would be a powerful opportunity to unite and give back to the local community.
