Unfortunately, these fees were announced at the very last minute, prompting me to increase the amount I am requesting on my GoFundMe page.

Who am I?

Hello! My name is Emmanuel Kato, a passionate young scientist from Uganda, and I have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to further my education in France. I am reaching out to ask for your support in making this dream a reality.

Background:

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology and have always been driven by a desire to make impactful changes in the health sector through science. Recently, I was thrilled to receive admission to pursue a Master’s in Health Engineering at the prestigious Université Grenoble Alpes in France. This program is incredibly competitive, offering only five spots each year, and it's a testament to the hard work and dedication that I've committed to my academic journey.

Accomplishments:

Among my notable achievements, I was the team leader of the iGEM team for Uganda in 2022, where I had the opportunity to present our project in Paris, France. I am also the founder of the SynBio4ALL Africa initiative, aimed at expanding the reach and knowledge of synthetic biology across Africa. Additionally, I have gained valuable experience as a trainee at the Uganda Virus Research Institute.

The university is located in Grenoble, a city renowned for its research and innovation, especially in health engineering. The program offers an intensive, research-driven curriculum that aligns perfectly with my career goals of improving health care through innovative biotechnological solutions.

Challenge:

Despite the reduced tuition, the reality of moving and living abroad is financially daunting. The costs of flights, visa processing, initial accommodation, and basic living expenses are substantial. As such, I am turning to GoFundMe to ask for your support.
