Our daughter Katie is a dedicated med student at Kent State located in Independence, Ohio, and living in Parma, Ohio, far from her home in Colorado. On the night of Friday, February 27, 2026, after a long day of studying, she returned to her apartment to find the building engulfed in flames. Katie’s apartment was the third floor apartment that shows in the attached picture that is completely gone. In a matter of moments, everything she owned was lost. The only thing that partially survived was the memorial cremation box from her beloved dog, Gunner. Katie was left with just the clothes and shoes she was wearing and her backpack.

This loss has been extremely overwhelming, especially as she tries to continue her demanding studies and rebuild her life from scratch. The funds raised will go directly toward helping Katie secure new housing, replace essential items, and support her as she works to get back on her feet while continuing med school. Every bit of support will help her regain stability and focus on her future.
