Why We Are Asking for Your Help
We are asking for your help to raise funds towards a new Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) for our daughter, Katie.
For Katie, a WAV isn't simply a vehicle — it is her independence, freedom and ability to take part in everyday life.
Having a suitable vehicle would make a huge difference to Katie's life, allowing her to travel safely and comfortably in her wheelchair to important hospital appointments, physiotherapy appointments and other healthcare needs without the difficulties and limitations we currently face.
It would also allow Katie to continue attending college, get out and about with her friends and, importantly, attend a new group she is helping setting up on her own. The group will provide help, support and a safe place for young adults with additional needs, something Katie is incredibly passionate about.
And it's not just about appointments and responsibilities. Katie deserves the opportunity to enjoy life too — to take holidays around the UK, visit places, make memories with her family and experience the same opportunities that many young people take for granted.
We are trying to raise a £14,000 contribution towards the cost of the WAV, and we know that this is a huge amount of money. That's why we are reaching out to friends, family, local businesses and anyone who may be able to help.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will bring Katie one step closer to having the freedom and independence she deserves.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read Katie's story and for supporting her journey. ❤️
