Katie’s world changed in an instant when she was medevaced from her hometown to Spokane due to extremely early labor. Her son, Boone, arrived seven weeks ahead of schedule, and the days since have been filled with both hope and worry. Boone’s dad is currently there, but will soon need to return to work and will be driving back and forth on his days off, leaving Katie at times without transportation in between. Katie will be left in Spokane without a vehicle, relying on shuttles, friends, and Ubers to get to the hospital and be with her newborn during those crucial early days.

Transportation has quickly become one of the biggest hurdles. The hospital shuttle is volunteer-run, which means it doesn’t operate during the early morning and late night hours when Katie needs to be at the hospital for Boone’s feedings and care. On weekends, there are no shuttles at all. This leaves Katie dependent on Ubers and the kindness of friends to make sure she can be with Boone for every feeding and care time, no matter the hour. The costs add up quickly, and the uncertainty of getting to the hospital only adds to the stress of an already difficult time.

We are reaching out to our community for help to ensure Katie has a reliable way to be with Boone every day. Your support will go directly toward transportation costs, giving Katie peace of mind and allowing her to focus on what matters most—caring for her son. We would just like to thank everybody in advance for all their support and for the help to ensure Katie has a reliable way back and forth to see her son Boone without worry.
