Like many of you -
It's never easy to ask for, or admit when we need help.
But there are times in our life, when we must.
This is one of those times.
The picture in this post, is of 28 year old Colby Caldwell.
Loving husband, father of two rambunctious boys, son and friend.
After numerous doctor visits and misdiagnosis, Colby has learned he has Eagle's Syndrome.
Never heard of it?
We haven't either!
It's a condition in which 4% of the population ever experience, and only 0.16% ever show symptoms.
It's associated with the elongation of the styloid or calcification of the stylohyoid ligament.
This creates recurrent pain in the middle part of the throat and face, and persistent throat pain that radiates to the ear and worsen with rotation of the head.
Some relief of pain can be managed with medical treatment.
Surgery is only recommended as a last resort.
Colby's health has rapidly declined.
He has lost an extreme amount of weight and bone mass, because the styloid is pressing on his hyoid bone - dangerously near his cartoid artery.
He is now having difficulty swallowing, staying cognitive, and has had several seizures and local doctors suspected also mini strokes.
Colby is now unable to work and is on disability.
WE CAN'T WAIT MUCH LONGER!
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!!!
There are no specialty surgeons in Arkansas, so now we are reaching out to surgeons out of state and have yet to receive a response.
While we continue our search for a qualified surgeon to perform this delicate surgery, his wife Katie is emotionally exhausted.
It is certain to be financially overwhelming for this young family,
as this rare condition and specialty surgery will require more than insurance will cover.
Not to mention other expenses and long term care that will be necessary.
If you or someone you know can assist in our continued search, or would like to donate -
Any help is greatly appreciated, as well as your prayers.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
