On Monday, our friend Kathy Wimmer Lajoie faced the unimaginable as her home caught fire. Fortunately, she and her two “frat boys” escaped unharmed, and the girls were not at home.

The house will need to be gutted to the studs; contents are not salvageable, and if they are, the cost of remediation will be great. Her car may be totaled as well due to smoke damage in the garage. It will be at least 9 months to a year before the house is considered habitable.
