Help Kathryn's Family

On Monday, July 3rd, after returning home from her night shift at Medical City Dallas, my beautiful mom Kathryn Huffman passed away in her sleep. Her son, Gabriel, found her unresponsive, and paramedics were unable to revive her.

My mom was a beautiful person, inside and out. Her heart was made of pure gold. Her smile and laughter were infectious, she could light up any room she would walk into. She was truly a one-in-million kind of person, and we will miss her severely. She was adored by her friends, family, her co-workers at Medical City Dallas, and her beloved bodybuilding community. She is survived by her two children, myself, Grace McCoy, and her son Gabriel McCoy, as well as her grandson Forrest Perez. She also has her brother and sister, Dane Huffman and Suzanne Velasco, as well as her father Dan Huffman and her stepmother Becky Huffman, who is very much heartbroken and will miss her severely.

I'm creating this gofundme because my family and I are now left to pick up the pieces. There are a lot of unknowns about how our lives will continue over these next few months. There are a lot of unknowns as far as what benefits and funds are available to us after her sudden and unexpected passing. But what we do know is immediate bills and expenses are coming up that will need to be paid. The most important of which is preparing for my mom's funeral and any other arrangements that will need to be made. This includes flights to and from North Carolina (where her ashes will be dispersed) as well as any flights that I will have to make with my family to Texas from Florida.

We are also both on her health insurance and will most definitely need intense therapy to recover from this shocking loss, which will most likely be paid for out of pocket. My father and brother are currently in the process of moving out of the house in Frisco that she had been renting for over 8 years now. We are anticipating terminating the rental agreement early, but are hoping we can still pay rent for the next month or two while we prepare to move everything and find a new place for my brother and father to live.

Financially, my mom took care of everything. For a large portion of our teenage years up until her death, we were surviving off of her income alone. She was able to get me through college, but my brother Gabe still has approximately a year left to finish his degree. This means we will have to figure out how to cover his tuition and housing costs. If you knew my mom, you knew that education was something very important to her. Performing in school was a must - she always said it was our number one job. She always said she would do whatever it took to get us to finish our degree, and we are determined to make that dream happen.
