The Last Days of Crystal Woods - Urgent Request

My name is Trisha, and I am creating this campaign for my dear friend, Kathleen MacKay. I met Kathleen when I visited her beautiful retreat property - Crystal Woods - six years ago, and we have become dear friends over the years.

Fourteen years ago Kathleen helped her then-partner to build the retreat (with log home, sauna, treatment/meditation cabin and guest cabin) on 50 acres of woods, and she quickly embraced her life in the wooded paradise that they had created. Her vision for Crystal Woods Retreat has always been that it be a place of Healing, Peace and connection with Nature, and she has welcomed many happy guests over the years.

Due to an increasingly fractious separation beginning 2 ½ years ago, she has been in a battle to hold on to her beloved homestead. Devastatingly, on April 20th the sale of the property was forced through due to a court order. Kathleen is absolutely crushed – she loses her home, her place of work, the beautiful land that she came to love, and her dream of a healing space for community and Nature. Indeed, this is a tremendous loss not just for Kathleen, but for the hundreds of people who have benefited from this beautiful retreat over the years.

In another terrible blow; a judge ruled that when the property was sold, Kathleen would receive no money (yes, you read that correctly) until her percentage is determined by a trial judge - in 2027. (Because this was a common-law relationship the division is not fixed (ie. 50%), and this disagreement therefore necessitates ongoing negotiations which are both emotionally exhausting and costly for Kathleen) That means that on closing day, she receives no money – and for however long this terrible legal process drags on, she has no money from the sale.

So my dear friend has until the end of June to find a place to live, and a place to work out of, and to pack up and move fourteen years of her life and start over – at the age of 56.

If you know Kathleen then you know that she has a beautiful soul. She is loving, resourceful, strong and resilient, but I can see that she is completely exhausted by her long legal battle, and totally devastated by her loss,- in short, she is struggling. So I am putting this urgent request out, because she needs to feel supported right now – she has until June 30th, to secure a living situation and a work space, as well as pay for moving/storage costs.

As Nature has long been Kathleen’s refuge, her plan now is to purchase a (second-hand) RV and live in a Nature park while she rests from her ordeal, and decides what (and where) her next chapter takes her.
