Katherine Thomas, 19, is a passionate and dedicated dancer who has trained with Gary Taylor Dance and High Point Ballet. Last year, she was thrilled to be accepted into the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School’s Trainee Program in New York City.
Katherine began dance at the age of 4 at the recommendation of her orthopedic specialist as a way for her to build bone strength after many broken bones due to a mild brittle bone disorder. What began as a type of physical therapy became her passion. Katherine has become a strong dancer! It is through dance that she found healing and she hopes to continue for many years to come!
Over the past year, Katherine has grown tremendously, gaining invaluable experience and training from some of the most accomplished professional dancers in the industry. This opportunity has brought her one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a professional dancer.
If you're unfamiliar with the Joffrey Ballet School, it has been a leader in American dance education for over 60 years. Its graduates have gone on to dance with major ballet, modern, and contemporary companies across the U.S. and around the world.
Unfortunately, the cost of living in New York, combined with tuition and program expenses, is extremely high. Without additional financial support, Katherine may not be able to continue her training at Joffrey beyond this year.
This is where you can make a difference. We’re aiming to raise at least $40,000 to help cover tuition, living expenses, and allow Katherine to pursue another year of training, growth, and connection in the heart of the dance world.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring her one step closer to making her dream a reality. Thank you so much for your support!
