Help Kate Stay In Work
Donation protected
Hi,
For those who'd like to read a *shortish version* here we go. I'm Kate and I have limited capacity for work due to my complex health. I've created my own job(s) around my health condition and can hand on heart say I absolutely love my work. To do this, I require support. For two years, I have received Access To Work. I have just received the devastating news, after a lengthly battle with them, that they have cut my support time significantly and my support workers pay. This will mean I will no longer be able to do my job. Appeals are 13 weeks (although I'm still in the 'change of circumstance queue since October 2023) so I'm looking for your donations to help me fund the shortfall in my support workers pay for 2 months whilst I match fund the other amount.
Without this funding, not only I will lose work, but I hire 2 main support workers (with extra as bank) and 2 regular disabled teachers as part of my team. All of whom's work would be affected greatly or may have to leave the team completely. In this cut, I have also lost my grant writing support which will directly impact my future (as well as my non-profit) and the team I regularly use to help me produce my video content for these submissions too.
What your money will enable me to do my most necessary tasks:
- Continue to hire my fabulous support workers who I have a very good relationship with to support with my regular contracted jobs
- Continue to do my job as a resident artist at Great Ormond Street
- Continue to be part of Sadler's Wells Disabled Artists Programme
- Continue to work with Synergy, with Olivier Winning choreographer Mark Smith
- Continue to run my non-profit, inclusive dance academy, which hires disabled staff members.
I wouldn't be able to take on extra work which needs access support, but it's all about getting through.
I'm going to upload the *long* version when I have some more energy. But in the meantime, have a look at how much joy I have doing what I do. From modelling for London Fashion Week to dancing for TV, I've worked really hard to get where I am and it's devastating to not get the support.
