Help Kassidy Overcome Brain Cancer Recovery

We are Brandon, & Jennifer Taylor. Our daughter is Kassidy Erin Reid. Kassidy is the smartest, kindest, most vibrant 22 y/o in the entire world. 5 days ago, her world, & our world was completely rocked! (Turned upside down) Kassidy has been being treated under the care of her primary care provider for for 3 straight weeks for “ virtago.” Kassidy was misdiagnosed!! She should have been sent from the beginning for a head scan to “rule out” the worse! (That’s a story for another day) She was sent to a ENT doctor for the virtago, and during the ENT office visit on Monday, a wonderful, and amazing nurse practitioner named Adelide, insisted Kassidy go straight to the hospital. She said her symptoms were way worse than virtago. Adelide arranged for her to be seen as soon as she walked in the door of the ER. Within one hour of being at Baptist Health Floyd, Kassidy was brain scanned, and diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor was 4.2 cm. (Which is considered a giant tumor) (in the 4th ventricle of the brain) a nurse practitioner at Floyd who I plan on formally complaining about, abruptly came in and said “ we’re sorry, but you have a brain tumor.” She didn’t even ask us to sit down. So insensitive and rude! I will be nice, and not mention her name on here. That night of “not knowing” was the worse night of my entire life!!!!! I cried buckets of tears! All I could think was my baby is dying. The next day, Kassidy was quickly transferred to Big Baptist in Louisville. She quickly was taken to surgery, and a tube was inserted into her brain, to drain the excess fluid off of her brain. The plan was to go to BIG surgery the next day. Finally, Wednesday the 23rd came. At 2 pm Kassidy was in brain surgery to remove a giant tumor! They called us every hour to update us on Kassidys condition. It was the longest day ever. Several hours later the surgeon came out and told us surgery was a success. (Dr Eric Chen) we owe Kassidys life to him! God bless him! Yesterday on Thursday, Kassidy had a repeat MRI, the surgeon just called a few minutes ago, and informed us that there is no residual tumor to be seen! This is a huge victory! Now the last thing is, we are waiting on pathology results to come back. This is one of the most major / complicated surgeries there is! Kassidy has a long road ahead of healing and Physical therapy. Kassidy was due to graduate with her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Sullivan in June. Kassidy is devastated that she will not be able to graduate with her friends! (Or will she?? We just don’t know!) The near future is just so uncertain. Kassidy lives in an apartment accross town from us. Basically Kassidy is living off of her school loans until she starts making money as a pharmacist. Rent, and bills and life expenses will not stop!! I am asking all my friends and family to consider donating whatever they feel comfortable at this time, to help us through this extremely difficult situation. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. If you cannot donate monitarily, please PRAY! Continue to PRAY! “GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME, AND ALL THE TIME, HE IS GOOD.”
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Jennifer and Brandon Taylor
