Hi, my name is Kassandra, and I’m reaching out because I’m facing a reality I never expected at such a young age.
For the past two years, following a car accident, I’ve been living with a fainting disorder that has drastically altered my ability to care for myself. Due to early medical malpractice, my condition was not properly addressed, and I’m still without a full diagnosis. At this time, I only have a tentative diagnosis of vasovagal syncope, and I’m still learning how to live safely with an unpredictable condition. My fainting episodes have caused repeated injuries over time — including falls, head impacts, burns, and bruises — as well as public episodes that have been frightening and humiliating. Because of this, I’m unable to drive and cannot work a traditional 9–5 job. The constant uncertainty has taken a toll on my physical and mental health, including anxiety and depression. I don’t have reliable support from my biological family, and while there are people who care deeply about me, the reality is that I’ve had to navigate most of this on my own. My friends have become my chosen family, and while they’ve helped me survive more than they know, it isn’t fair or sustainable for everything to fall on one person.
Over the past two years, I’ve also experienced periods of homelessness for a few weeks at a time. While I currently have a roof over my head, maintaining stable housing has been an ongoing struggle, and I’m trying to prevent falling back into that situation. Recently, the financial strain has reached a point where I can no longer safely manage on my own without additional support. I’m raising funds to help cover basic living expenses, ongoing medical-related costs, and essential veterinary care for my cats, who are a constant source of comfort and emotional stability for me. This support would allow me to remain housed, continue pursuing medical answers, and reduce the stress that directly worsens my condition while I work toward long-term stability and accessible employment.
If you’re able to donate or share this fundraiser, I would be deeply grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for offering kindness during an incredibly difficult chapter of my life.
With gratitude,
Kassandra
