Benefit for Kapital Aker & Family

My name is Aspen Pomplun, and I am writing to you with a heavy heart on behalf of my sister, Kapital Aker (Pomplun-Hangsleben), and her three beautiful children: Lauren (13), Jak (5), and Audie (2). On March 24th, 2025, they lost their beloved husband and father, Matthew Aker, after a long and difficult battle with heart failure.

Matt was diagnosed with congestive heart failure five years ago, and after being given an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), he faced many struggles, spending much of those years in and out of the hospital. Despite his strength and the love and support of his family, this last year was particularly hard, with countless complications and infections. His final days were filled with hope after a successful surgery, but a blood clot in his LVAD and a second stroke took a devastating toll on his already fragile body. Despite the tireless efforts of his doctors and family, Matt ultimately succumbed to an infection he could not fight.

He passed away peacefully on March 24th, surrounded by his loving wife and close family, who had never left his side.

In this time of unimaginable grief, I am reaching out to ask for your help. We are raising funds to cover funeral expenses, as well as to support my sister and her children through the difficult months ahead. With the loss of Matt, she will be taking time off work to care for her family, and bills and daily responsibilities will continue.
