Hello my name is Maria Walsh and I am reaching out to ask for your help for my dear friend, Kaity Sargent. Kaity is a resilient individual living in Portland, Oregon who is currently facing an overwhelming intersection of physical and mental health disabilities. Recently, the weight of looming homelessness and the fear of losing her beloved long time companion, her cat Moxie, became too much to bear. This crisis led to a tragic suicide attempt that left Kaity in the ICU on life support. While Kaity is now fighting to recover, her path forward is incredibly difficult. She is currently navigating serious heart arrhythmias, including QT prolongation and sinus tachycardia, making her recovery fragile. Having lost her job due to her health she is in the process of applying for general assistance, but the system moves slowly. For Kaity, Moxie isn't just a pet, she is a lifeline. The stress of being unable to feed or house Moxie is a significant barrier to Kaity’s mental healing. We are raising funds to ensure Kaity and Moxie stay housed and fed while Kaity stabilizes her health. Your donations will go directly toward immediate housing costs to prevent homelessness, food and essential care for Moxie, and basic living expenses while her assistance applications are processed.
