Kaitlyn is a sexual assault survivor. During her second year of college, the court case finally came forward. She had to relive every detail, again and again, in order to testify. The emotional toll was devastating. Despite doing everything she could to stay in school, the trauma triggered a severe mental-health crisis. Under professional advice, she had to withdraw for the rest of the semester to protect her safety and mental well-being.

Kaitlyn is now in counseling and doing well — healing, rebuilding, and determined to get her life back. She is strong, resilient, and motivated to return to school in January to continue pursuing her dreams.

But now, she’s facing an obstacle she never saw coming.

The Financial Setback

Because federal law requires all unearned financial aid to be returned when a student withdraws early — and because the college charges 80% tuition based on the withdrawal date — Kaitlyn was suddenly hit with a bill of:

$11,380 due before she’s allowed to return in January.

She has no way to pay this on her own.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Kaitlyn’s father (me) is a 100% disabled combat veteran, unable to work. Her mother is my full-time caregiver. Our household survives on disability benefits, and we simply cannot cover unexpected tuition charges of this size.

Kaitlyn relied on financial aid to attend college. She did everything right — and now, through no fault of her own, the system is holding her education hostage at the exact moment she’s trying to heal and move forward.
