Hello everyone. My name is Kai. I come to you today to ask you for help. I was given a 60-day notice by my landlord to move due to plumbing issues that need to be taken care of by the city and by him. I was told he doesn’t know if or when I can return to live here. He said he will be ending my lease. Essentially, I am being evicted without doing anything wrong. I have been here 3 months short of 5 years. He first gave me 30 days to vacate and then said I could take 45-60 days. I am now at 6 weeks left to be out.

I have looked at several apartments and they are either way out of my price range, they don’t accept any pets, they only accept cats, they only accept dogs, they have tons of stairs, or my favorite, they won’t rent to me because I can’t show I make 3 times the rent for those places that I can afford. Being disabled and only receiving SSDI benefits doesn’t leave me many options.

So what I have done is found a place that I can call my own. A nice home. An actual home that no one can kick me out of or tell me no pets or only cats or only dogs or anything. This will be my first home. However, I need a bit more help getting to the front door of this home—closing costs and moving fees. I am trying to raise $10,000 for closing costs, truck rental, and any other moving fees that I need. I know that is a lot of money to raise; however, I figured out that if 1,000 people give just $10.00, I will reach my goal.
