Help Kady and Her Kids Rebuild Their Lives

Hello. My name is Kady. I’ve finally gained the courage to leave a 12-year, mentally and physically abusive relationship. I’m currently staying with my stepfather and my mother who has Alzheimer’s. I have 4 kids, of whom the older two (17 and 15 years old) have decided to stay behind due to them finally getting into the best high school in Lee County. Most domestic violence shelters will not take boys over 14, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. I won’t go into details of the abuse because it is not productive.

My ex and I decided I should quit my job for the summer to take care of the kids, but then threw it up in my face when I asked for money for bills (FYI he makes $150,000 a year). We are not married, so I have lost everything. I am no angel and have made my fair share of mistakes, but these are meant to be learning lessons, not a life sentence. I am in desperate need of financial assistance for housing, groceries, school supplies, gas and everyday essentials…and a career to support my family on my own. Anything helps. I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t desperate. Thanks.
