My name is Justin, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve worked hard to support myself and those around me. I’m an entrepreneur and a handyman, always finding ways to help others and build something of my own. But this past year, everything changed. My landlord gave me a 30-day notice, and without savings to fall back on, I had no choice but to move back in with my family. Living at home was difficult—my grandmother, who’s elderly, began accusing me of things I didn’t do, and the tension made it impossible to feel at peace.

Just as I was trying to get back on my feet, I was in a terrible car accident. A 17-year-old driver hit me from behind, flipping my car and sending me to the hospital. I spent weeks in physical therapy, unable to work, and stuck at my parents’ house facing more accusations and stress. With no car, no job, and no money, I felt my world closing in. I tried to keep moving forward, but after another setback, I found myself homeless in August 2024.

Stable housing is the center of building one’s life—a man without land is like a country without a flag. If I can secure a place to live, I’ll be able to restart my handyman business and other service work, get back into a routine, and regain my independence.
